CWTS - Physics Style

Library_1

I used to make jokes on what I fancy CWTS would be like for Physics majors. Jokes like: Maybe physics majors would be sent to the war at Basilan to compute for the trajectory of artillery fire and stuffs like that. CWTS afterall stands for Community Welfare Training Service and what more service can we give the Filipino community than to use our knowledge of Physics against the insurgents in Mindanao? It is afterall for the protection of Democracy! Hahaha! Kidding.

Anyway, the National Institute does not share my fancy to send their students to the warfront. So in what way did NIP deem we serve the community? By staying in the library: for a sum of 56 hours this semester. STARTING 2 WEEKS AGO!!! How could we do that with only a month to go ’til the end of classes?! And in what way do physics majors serve the country by "geekifying" themselves in the library for hours?! Basilan would’ve been better; there’s no Medal of Valor for understanding Quantum Mechanics until I exsanguine from nasal hemorrhage.

But as it turned out, it wasn’t all bad. The NIP library is "my kind" of library. It isn’t restricted like the other campus libraries: no ID needed and we can be noisy - its so free… it’s liberating! The airconditioning is perfect, and we can use the computers with internet access and printer - for free! And the BIG plus is: other than us physics majors, no one else is there that sometimes I’m all alone! It’s absolutely perfect for spending quiet times reading the Bible. And it’s filled with tons of diverse books, but of course only about Physics - just when you thought it can’t get more complicated.

As of now I’ve only scraped 15 hours: 41 hours to go! Now I only need to reach near light speed velocity to get this over and done with - perhaps after time dilation in my reference frame, I would be thinner and just in time for the sembreak.

Joby’s Birthday!

Joby_birthday_1

Joby turned 20 last Friday. He treated us to dinner and movie, thanks man! We ate at Gilligan’s and I didn’t like the service, I discourage you to eat there. We watched Evan Almighty, not witty nor very funny; I don’t recommend it. But that’s not the point. What bought the evening was old friends meeting again and catching up with one another, perhaps not on stories but their company sure was a breath of fresh air after being fed up from all the Physics.

(Marco made us do the "Korean" pose. Nathan and Joby were not feeling too cooperative.)
