Pasta

The sauce was perfect, just the way he wanted it to be: simple yet very tasty.

"I think art could never have an objective standard if the purpose of the artist for his work is not properly stated." Erich told Pavel while he was tasting the sauce.

"Mmmm… yes," Pavel agreed, putting down the spoon. "But the problem is when the subjectivity which is almost excused in Art enters the realm of philosophy since it paves the way for relativism."

"Yes, there is tremendous danger in that tendency." Erich said with a nod while Pavel started to cook the pasta in the boiling water.

"Relativism… postmodernism, they try to debunk the very philosophies they are built on… WHEN YOU FORGET THE BASICS… calamity is inevitable." Pavel exclaimed dramatically as he was stirring the pasta (he noticed it was hard to do). Uneasiness slowly crept in him.

"Why does it smell like peanuts? You’re cooking spaghetti right?" Erich asked smelling something burnt.

Pavel paused.

"Oh no!!! I forgot to add OIL!!!"

Friend,

Its been a year since we last saw you and had fellowship with you. You are terribly missed, and prayers that the Lord would bless you and keep you are constant cries of our hearts. Be encouraged: "We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God."

May our lives glorify the Lord. God bless you.

Wooden_cross

"For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son, that
whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God
did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world but to save
the world through him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but
whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he did not
believe in the name of God’s one and only Son."
"This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men
loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone
who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for
fear that his deeds will be exposed.
But whoever lives by the truth
comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has
done has been done through God."

- On human nature, the Lord Jesus Christ

If
there is a statement that is totally uncomplementing, totally
different, and more accurate in describing the human nature than this in history then and only then will I denounce Christianity.
The problem with humanity is that we are trying to define life in our
own terms and not on the Creator’s terms being fully aware that we are
not responsible for the being of the universe; nay, even our own.
Why then do we say that we do not find acceptance in God, when we see
the life of the Lord Jesus Christ who with open arms accept sinners
with the greatest pathos anyone ever in human history ever shown when
He died on the cross to give humanity pardon from the judgment it
deserves.

May I challenge you this: It is not Christianity that
does not offer acceptance -even the greatest acceptance, being accepted
by God- but it is us who are denying the offer.

Things I Miss

Maskman

Thanks to Kuya Niko (http://niko.i.ph/blogs/niko/) I was inspired to write this entry:

When I was a kid: Afternoon walks with my kuya and lolo, faking sleep during forced siesta, saying goodbye to papa and mama when they’re going off to work, chocolates pasalubong, going to church with the family and "getting lost", arguing with kuya over the simplest things (which was "big" then; like who gets to be Ernie and who gets to be Bert… I won, I was Ernie), getting very scared of horror movie advertisements

Games I played: Habulan taya, Langit lupa, Teks,  Bahay-bahayan  (I was papa; my crush was of course, mama), POG,  Agawan base,  Monkey-monkey

Watching childhood TV programs: Bioman,Maskman, Shaider, Dragonball, Machine man,  Atbp,  Home along the riles, Batibot, Sesame  st, Cedie, Dog of Flounders,  Cinderella (channel  2 , the love of my life when I was a kid)

Childhood hobbies:  Locking myself in a room and play with my toys (yes, I have my own world then),  Break lots of my toys (2 balikbayan boxes in quantity, let’s just say I had a twisted idea about chivalry as a kid),  Killing soldier ants, cockroaches, flies and their maggots in  diverse methods (like burning, drowning, suffocating, etc.),  Breaking thermometers (oooh, mercury),  Reading the encyclopedia with my kuya (I miss this so much!),  thumbsucking (yes; I confess, until grade 2)

Playing Family Computer, Nintendo, and Playstation with neighborhood friends

36" TV with cable connection that I destroyed by over-usage (Oh my kuya was SO mad at me)

Slambook signing (Define love - classic)

Having LOTS of crushes (My friends can’t keep count!… I wonder why I have so few now)

"Getting lost" almost anywhere my mama takes me to (really, I make her deadly mad)

Singing contests (I miss losing and being the only guy there)

My "Less-than-one-day-girlfriend" experience (seriously)

Friday afternoons at Joby’s with the barkada surfing the net (oh, we were very naughty)

The ride back home after staying at Joby’s (conversations with Joby and Joseph about school)

Searching the cheat codes  in the games I play (Mortal Kombat, Baldur’s Gate, Warcraft, etc.)

My personalized merienda after school: Oishi with Pop cola (everything worth only Php 10!)

Astro Quiz Bee by Nestle (I won gold, and I answer before the question was complete yay!)

Telebabad with Camille (I remember our goal was 12 hours, but the longest was 5? 6?)

Confed (Now Marco gang) days, playing Magic cards, night-outs, retreats

Bigo-sa-lovelife days (2 years actually, to get over one girl na sobrang wala akong pagasa! hahaha!)

First time to get drunk with Camia at EJ’s, having absolutely no recollection of anything and hearing stories that I was screaming "Mahal ko ang Pilipinas!" and spilling hot coffee on my classmate.

Dorm days at Pisay, especially if classes are suspended, movie marathon by Sir Norada

Being a CAT officer so that I won’t be bossed around (manipulating my way to be in charge of the Armory so that I won’t be out at the field all afternoon haha!)

… Remembering all these memories, and a lot more too embarrassing to mention makes me want to acknowledge the Lord Jesus Christ that inspite who I was - who I am - a wretched sinner, He died on the cross to bear the judgment of all my sins to give me hope of eternal life, enjoying Him for all eternity.

I don’t even think I exist.
———————————————————————————————————————-
This is a ludicruous statement. There is a logical method called the "undeniability test." If you posit the dilemma of denying your existence the mere positioning of the question affirms the negation being pursued: inevitably causing the implosion of the statement.

Nevertheless this prospect is popular among existentialists who after much whimpering about living for the moment - disregarding all rules, derailing all points of references: to provide a philosophical albeit illogical outworking to "condone" some of their actions - find that they have no more firm foundation to step on, even on the issue of their own existence!

It comes as a light note therefore that in biblical times they use the phrase: "as surely as you live" to express truthfulness in a statement.

Jeepney rides make him think.
The scene at the window: of the campus -idly passing by- makes him melancholic, reminiscing fond memories regurgitated by the familiar surroundings.
The wind brushing on his face gives him some solace, that perhaps time too would fly quickly. Since without her the world seemed to lose a chunk of its grandeur, like diamond losing its glitter.
He sighs, yet the weight is not lifted off him.
